In 1947 John Martin of Smirnoff ran into the owner of a Los Angele's restaurant called the Cock'n Bull. The restaurateur had been trying to push his imported ginger beer with scant success. Martin saw an opportunity to promote his vodka. And so the Moscow Mule was born. Vodka, ginger beer and lime, served in a frosted copper mug. Soon the new drink was sweeping the country!
RECIPE FOR MOSCOW MULE
- 4 to 5 ounces vodka
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- Ginger beer
- lime slice or wedge
Pour the vodka and lime juice into a chilled copper mug containing several ice cubes. Stir. Top off with the ginger beer and garnish with lime. Enjoy!
